Wallpaper Ordered: Check!

I just ordered this wallpaper from Alluminare for the projects I’m going to start soon. I’m really looking forward to them! I’ll post the DIY steps when I’m finished, but for now, here’s a taste of what’s to come:

These Are A Few Of My Favorite Blogs

Happy Friday, everyone! This week has been an “Ooo! Ahh!” week in Blog World. Fall is upon us, and my Google Reader has been ablaze with some serious eye candy. (Really puts a [worthwhile] dent in productivity!)

Apartment Therapy

Apartment Therapy has been running their “Room For Color” contest, and, as you know my affinity for bright colors, it’s been gorgeous to watch (mostly – I’ll be honest). Here’s a fave:

Stepmodo

Stephmodo has rapidly become a favorite blog of mine. Ever since Design*Sponge mentioned their remodel of La Maisonnette du Coteau, I’ve been hooked. Lots of excellent before and after shots, and the attention to detail is inspiring.

Katy Elliot

Katy Elliot’s blog always makes me think. For days. I was watching TV the other day, and this blog post came to mind. I was analyzing a living room on some show’s TV set, wondering if this painting technique would work…or what if they tried to…or maybe if… I love a blog that sticks with me well after I’ve left the computer.

Enjoy!

Be Still My Heart

Painting. A. Pattern. On. The. Wall. I love this article from Apartment Therapy about Jen French’s house.

It started with a paint color she loved, but was far too much for an entire wall. So she painted a pattern on the wall, and used stamps from Michael’s for the spaces. Love this idea. (And I am completely envious of that wall lamp.)

IMG_5746I love this because I tend toward bright, dashing colors, but most walls can’t hold dark paint (some can, others, not so much). Check out the rest of Jen’s house. Love it!

Crafty Wallpaper Contest

Design Hole asked, “What would you do with 20 square feet of wallpaper that you’ve designed yourself?” in their Crafty Wallpaper contest.
Here’s my answer:

Cool Picture Framed Art

  1. Buy nine – 1 foot square frames and spray paint them black.
  2. Carefully cut out a bunch of 1-foot x 1-foot squares of wallpaper – it’s ideal because you don’t need to trim or break the pattern.
  3. Tack the squares to the front of the frames (and only the fronts, no wrap-around).
  4. Arrange the frames into a 3-foot × 3-foot grid and secure them together (temporarily, carefully).
  5. Find a simple, graphic design and paint it in white across all the pieces.
  6. Separate the pieces, affix to the wall in the same grid order, but about 1 to 2 inches apart on all sides.

I won! I received a gift certificate from Alluminare for 20 feet of wallpaper to complete my project — I shall be using my own patterns!! I also have a Design Hole T-Shirt coming!

Thank you so much, Design Hole & Alluminare!
